So since we’re about to go on something of a blogging adventure together, why don’t I tell you a little bit about my background and why you should blindly follow every piece of advice I give you even if it’s to go down to the store and get me some chocolate.

I began exploring the world of internet marketing just over five years ago.  Back then, I was messing around with pay-per-click advertising and what people now call Adsense arbitrage.  Not a fun scene!

Once I gave up on trying to game the system, I began creating blogs that attempted to actually answer some of the questions people commonly had out there and provided them with resources that helped them solve their problems. That’s when I began truly developing my philosophy as a marketer and my chops as a writer and blogger.

My nerdiness came in handy when I got new ideas for blogs and would sit down for 24 straight hours to turn that idea into a fully-functioning site packed full of content and ready for traffic.  Nowadays creating a blog is second nature to me and I can get it all done and lookin’ purdy in about 10 minutes.

What I love doing now is driving traffic and testing my writing to see how much I can put across to people in as few and simple of words as possible (I’m failing right at this moment aren’t I?!).  Anyway, I am now able to do this for a living and love every minute of it.

I created this blog and the Make Money Blogging Challenge because I wanted to share my passion and knowledge and to show others how truly easy and fun it is to be a blogger.  Now there’s a lot of money for you to earn out there, so it’s about time we get started.

Just a final word.  I am here to provide personal assistance through the process of you creating your first blog.  You can always leave comments under any post and I’ll try to respond as quickly as possible.  It’s by far my favorite part of this process, so don’t be shy.  Alternatively, you can email me any time at info@makemoneybloggingchallenge.com

Alright that’s enough blabbing about myself.  If there’s anything I missed, I’m an open book, so leave a comment below and I’ll be happy to spill.

If you’re new to the site and haven’t taken the free challenge, click here to sign up now!

Happy blogging and here’s to your success!

Hi Chidubem and thanks for sharing your story. One thing right off the bat: I have found that it’s very hard to earn a living with Adsense. You can earn some money, yes, but enough to actually make a significant contribution to your livelihood is extremely difficult. I would strongly suggest joining affiliate programs and selling products through your blog. Good news… although Nigeria isn’t one of the countries listed with ClickBank, you can check out Commission Junction and Link Connector – I’ve used both of those affiliate programs and they have tons of great products to promote. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions!

Thank you Valerie for your prompt response i quite appreciate your message. It is not fair though that my country is not listed in clickbank and paypal.I have received the day 1 of your challenge and one problem i am facing is how i can purchase the domain from godaddy when i dont have a mastercard. It seems this whole Affliate marketing is for citizens of Usa,Uk and other developed countries.Since i cant purchase a domain from godaddy can i open a free blog from blogger.com or wordpress? Please note i dont know anything about blogging. It is curiosity that made me to do research on this making money online and i am very interested and i am certain i will succeed but with help from people like you.So Please i need your help.Have a blessed day.

Hi Chidubem. I know it’s an added challenge working from Nigeria, but it’s far from impossible so don’t give up. First of all, GoDaddy accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and JCB – so any of those would work. I wouldn’t recommend using a free host like Blogger or WordPress.com but if it’s your only choice, then I would go with WordPress.com because at least then you can follow the rest of my directions. I have to say right from the start though, it’s highly recommended that you own your own domain and host your own blog. So if you search through the hosting companies I recommend, you might find one that allows a card that you have: Hosting Company Recommendations. You can buy a domain and hosting at the same time with any of those companies. Hope that helps and let me know how it goes.

Okay, Dolorina, sounds great. As you go through the lessons, ignore the Clickbank lesson as you’ll probably be primarily monetizing through iTunes, maybe Amazon… Any other ways to profit off of your site that you have in mind?

Hi Allan, thanks for the comment and I’m happy to help. One thing is, I highly recommend selling a product (either your own or an affiliate product) on your blog rather than relying on AdSense money. You simply need so much traffic to earn a serious income with AdSense and I think you’re better off trying to get more targeted traffic and selling higher paying products.

Hi Valerie, I’m looking to make a part time income. I think I’m prepared to put the hours in and be patient for my following to grow.

I have two questions though. I have heard that it takes about two years to garner a serious following on any blog, would you say that is true?

And I’ve had trouble pinning down a specific topic, so I think I’ve produced a workable compromise. I want to write about the ideal lifestyle. I’m not preaching, telling everyone I lead or know how to lead the perfect life. But rather just exploring lifestyle choices that people make and how they afffect health and wellness, the world, and whatever else. This frees me up to talk about diet, excecise, personal finance, even politics and philosophy. What are you thoughts about this funnelling approach to choosing a topic?

My working titles are “The Thinking Life” and “Lifestyle of the Thinking Man”

I like the idea, Carl but you’re entering a very big market. That doesn’t mean you can’t succeed. With the patience and determination you say you have, I’d say two years for a big blog following is about right for a less focused market such as lifestyle. Let me know if you have any other questions. :)
